President Vladimir Putin has sent a message of greetings to the Fifth Plenary Session of the Christian Inter-confessional Consultative Committee, which has begun its work on April 26, 2017, in St. Petersburg. The message was read out by Mr. M. Belousov, deputy head of the Presidential Administration for Domestic Policy.

To the participants in the Fifth Plenary Session

Christian Inter-Confessional Consultative Committee of the CIS and Baltic Countries

I greet the participants and guests of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Christian Inter-confessional Consultative Committee of the CIS and Baltic Countries.

The Consultative Committee unites representatives of Christian communities in many countries and is rightly regarded as one of the major inter-Christian forums. The agenda of your meetings is always relevant and meaningful; it reflects the most important common human and moral problems the most important of which are the support of the family institution, promotion of traditional spiritual values and ideals, strengthening of cooperation between the Church and the State in the works of education of the younger generation, enlightenment and charity.

The theme of the present plenary session is ‘Faith and Overcoming of Civic Confrontation – Lessons of the Century’. The events, which took place in the beginning of the 20th century, were crucial for our countries and peoples. Today, too, they are given different evaluations and are subjects of hot discussions.

I am confident that the forum will be held in a creative and constructive key, will provoke a broad public interest, while its proposals and recommendations will help strengthen peace, good-neighbourly relations and mutual understanding among people’

I wish you success and all the best,

V.Putin
